New Website

Starting today, my design portfolio will now be housed at my new personal site, jesserewing.com. Jesse R Ewing dot com will now be the place to go for current news and information about me, what I’m up to, and where to see my most recent design work. Inkleaf.net will remain, but its focus moving forward will primarily be a showcase for my illustration projects.

Again, that’s jesserewing.com. Please visit!

All the best,
Jesse

It’s Oh So Quiet

Updates to the site have been few and far between this year, for a few reasons. First and foremost, my work has taken me away from illustration for much of the year, something I’m not happy about, but I hope to rectify the situation over the next few months by narrowing the focus of Inkleaf Studio to illustration only.

A revised site design (in the works as I write this) will debut soon which will better showcase the artwork and will give more insight and details into each project. Everything else I do professionally will have a new home at jesserewing.com. This new site will also be the place to go for personal news such as the house my wife and I are fixing up, another big reason inkleaf.net has been so quiet.

So I’ve temporarily traded in the art supplies for power tools, but as progress is made on the house (and my great new studio!), I’ll be back online with a refreshed site and some fun new work. I hope you’ll stop back.

Hello 2009

First quarter update: New work is up on the Illustration page, including three of eight total pieces completed for the book Wine Secrets, to be published later this year by Quirk Books. A new self-promotional piece is shown below (click for a larger view), based on the song Westby by Kathleen Edwards, an idea suggested by my wife.

And I’m happy to announce that my labels for Wolf Creek’s 2008 Nouveau will be a featured entry in the October issue of PRINT magazine’s Creativity + Commerce competition.

It’s Fall Already?

Kath & Kim

I recently wrapped up a project for NBC’s new comedy Kath & Kim, a set of “paper doll” illustrations based on the show’s main characters. Over on the official website, you can dress up your own photo or make the real thing by downloading, printing, and cutting out the dolls, outfits, and accessories. A big thanks to the NBC.com creative team for a fun assignment. I’ve got a few new pieces up on the Illustration page as well, and I’ve just started the first batch of paintings for an upcoming show.

I’m also honored this month to share a winning entry in PRINT magazine’s Regional Design Annual with Quirk Books art director Bryn Ashburn. The cover of The Official Nancy Drew Handbook was one of 863 entries chosen for this year’s annual. Congratulations to Bryn!
